New IR Security & Safety Request to Exit Bar Features Redundant Infrared Beams

FORESTVILLE, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 23, 2002--IR Security & Safety's Electronic Access Control Division (EACD) today introduced a new Locknetics' request-to-exit (REX) bar that provides increased convenience and reliability when exiting a door featuring electromagnetic locks. The new 692 SmartBar(TM) employs two completely redundant and directionally opposed infrared detection circuits to activate a standard double pole throw (DPDT) relay. The relay, in turn, can be wired to release a lock as well as signal an access control system of a request to exit. When the user breaks either one or the other of the opposite traveling beams, the magnetic lock is released.
The new 692 SmartBar has been designed for years of trouble-free operation. Because of the infrared beams, there is negligible component wear. The low profile of the new 692 SmartBar resists damage and wear. Versus mechanical models, it provides increased space for those exiting to pass through. Ramped heavy-duty cast end caps deflect blows and impart maximum durability. There are no hidden backup pushbuttons.
"Push to Exit" lettering is available in a variety of colors including red, white and green. Facilities may also select backlit and new "glow in the dark" lettering.
Featuring heavy-duty, quick-install brackets with easy-to-cut extrusions, the 692 SmartBar installs swiftly and effortlessly on aluminum, hollow metal, and wood doors. Standard sizes include 36, 42 and 48 inches with optional special sizes available. Finishes include clear anodized aluminum and dark satin bronze.
