Leanne Tobias is founder and managing principal of Malachite LLC, a real estate advisory firm specializing in sustainable real estate on a global basis. Leanne brings more than 20 years of institutional real estate investment, development, and management experience to the sustainable real estate field and is one of the few real estate investment experts who has been designated as a LEED Accredited Professional by the U.S. Green Building Council. In addition to her work with private real estate and investment clients, Leanne is also an advisor to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Environmental Finance Advisory Board; the Green Building Finance Consortium; Washington, D.C.’s Green Building Task Force; and Building Design + Construction magazine. Leanne is the author of the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) forthcoming book on green office renovation, as well as the investment and finance sections of ULI’s authoritative Green Office Buildings: A Practical Guide to Development.

Martha Paschal is Managing Director at Malachite LLC, specializing in capital markets. A capital markets veteran, Paschal has more than 20 years of experience in securing financing for commercial and residential real estate throughout the United States. She has structured, participated in or managed $73 billion in equity and debt financings. Paschal is an expert in the financing, refinancing and securitization of commercial real estate. She is a leader in the financing of sustainable and energy-efficient real estate projects. Her recent successes include securing equity and debt financing for a $55 million multi-family project certified under the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) program of the U.S. Green Building Council, and the energy retrofit of an affordable housing portfolio. She has also been a key organizer for a local program planning initiative to obtain funds under the U.S. federal stimulus program.
