Christopher Schaffner is a Principal with The Green Engineer, a sustainable design consulting firm. A mechanical engineer by training, Chris is responsible for designing a range of building services systems , and for facilitating sustainable design across all trades within his projects. He is passionate about the role of the design community in protecting the environment and believes that good design must be sustainable.

 

Chris is a member of the USGBC’s LEED Faculty. In this role he provides training to other design professionals on the LEED Rating System. He is also amember of the LEED-NC Core Committee, and sits on the LEED IEQ TAG. Chris teaches Sustainable Design and Building Technology at the Boston Architectural Center, and the Ben Franklin Institute of Technology. He also speaks frequently at conferences on the issues of sustainable design, energy efficiency, and high performance buildings. In addition, Chris serves as a member of the Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust Fund Green Building Advisory Committee, and served on Boston's Green Building Task Force Advisory Committee.
