New Tremco White Paper Examines the Impact of California’s Title 24 Energy Efficiency Standards On Low-slope Roof System Selection
Tremco, the Provider of Customized Roofing and Weatherproofing Solutions For Over 75 Years, Announces Availability of a White Paper to Help Facility Managers and Building Owners Understand the Impact Changes to California’s Title 24 Energy Efficiency Standards For Residential and Non-residential Buildings On Low-slope Roof Design and Selection Ahead of the New Standards Becoming Effective October 1st, 2005.
The white paper consists of key areas including cool roofing, methods to measure compliance with the energy code, the compliance of different roofing systems, insulation requirements, and precautions necessary to maintain roof compliance. In addition, the white paper analyzes how Tremco roof systems meet Title 24 requirements.
“Commercial roofing in California enters a new era on October 1st with the implementation of Title 24. It can be daunting for facility managers to review and comprehend the new rules on their own,” said Jordan Miller, Vice President of Sales for Tremco’s Roofing and Building Maintenance Division. “This white paper will help companies better understand the new regulations so when they select new roof systems and replacing existing ones, the systems fully comply with Title 24. It is simply another instance of Tremco’s leadership in the roofing and waterproofing industry and our focus on managing the life cycle of our customers’ building envelope.”
Effective October 1st, Title 24 will include new standards to address energy efficient roofing solutions, defined as “cool roofs.” The basic requirement of a cool roof is an initial solar reflectance of 0.70 (the fraction of the solar energy that is reflected by a roof, expressed as a number between zero and one) and thermal emissivity of 0.75 (the amount of absorbed heat that is radiated from a roof, expressed as a number between zero and one) for low-sloped commercial roofs, as rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC).
The white paper is available for download Here.
