Surface iQ seems tough enough to maintain its appearance in almost any high-abuse environment. Even after serving as a doormat for wet, muddy boots, our sample still looked good. It doesn't tear easily and, unless punctured with a sharp instrument, should retain a like-new appearance for a long time. Cleanability
Surface dirt and dust wipe off cleanly with a mild soap and water solution. In some cases, soap isn't even necessary. After repetitive (yet mild) scrubbing, the surface showed no sign of wear or burnishing. Most stains were removed easily (with the exception of ballpoint pen and permanent marker). Based on the product information we were provided, Surface iQ is remarkably green (water-based inks and coatings, natural clay fire retardants, no PVC or plasticizers, and the potential to help you earn LEED points). As an added bonus, the surface is antimicrobial. Our only question: Can it be recycled at the end of its useful life? We're curious. Aesthetics
Surface iQ offers subtle patterns and soft colors - a combination that has great appeal in hospitality or healthcare facilities. Its patterns seem timeless and, according to one editor, are "versatile enough to withstand passing trends." The wallcovering introduces texture to a space without dominating the interior design. The overall effect is subdued.

Carnegie's PVC-free policy is evident with Surface iQ, a high-performance alternative to vinyl wallcoverings. Built on thermoplastic olefin (TPO) technology, Surface iQ is free of the chlorine, plasticizers, heavy metals, formaldehyde, and dioxin in vinyl. Using only water-based inks and coatings, Surface iQ is both beautiful and green. Offered in seven striking patterns, its subtle textures and bold colors can add sophistication to any interior. While PVC and plasticizers have been left out, Carnegie promises that its 54-inch-wide wallcovering provides cleanability and longevity.
