Tensotherm Fabric Membrane with Nanogel by Birdair and Cabot Corporation

The nanosized pores and structure of Tensotherm, a new composite roofing material, prevents heat loss and solar heat gain while emphasizing natural daylighting.

The material is crafted from a layer of Nanogel, a translucent, feather-light insulation layer, sandwiched between layers of Birdair tensile roofing fabrics. The Aerogel layer helps Birdair roofing systems meet energy and building code regulations and enhances the thermal efficiency of the product.

The Nanogel layer in Tensotherm develops a U-value of 0.95 and an R-value of R-6 per inch of thickness. Projects that incorporate Tensotherm into their design can gain credits toward LEED certification for insulation, green materials, innovation, and daylighting.
