Firestone Building Products Company, LLC has backed a sustainable roofing guideline known as RoofPoint. RoofPoint is roof system performance system that provides the means of evaluating a roof system over the life cycle of the associated building.
RoofPoint evaluates low-slope and steep-slope commercial roofing systems in five categories:
- Energy management
- Water management
- Durability management
- Life cycle management
- Roofing innovation
“While other established green building rating systems examine the building envelope and overall energy footprint, RoofPoint will increase visibility of the various attributes of a durable, high- performance, energy efficient roof,” says John Geary, vice president of marketing for Firestone Building Products and chairman of the Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing’s Board of Directors. “Using environmentally sound roofing solutions today will have a significant impact on a building’s long-term sustainability and RoofPoint will help building owners select and assess the best roofing systems and be recognized for their green roofing choices.”
