American Society of Interior Designers 2011 Class of Fellows Announced

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) today announced that five members have been officially inducted into the ASID College of Fellows. The title of Fellow, the highest honor a member can receive from ASID, is given in recognition of outstanding service and contributions to the Society, the profession and the interior design industry. The 2011 Class of Fellows will be honored on June 13, 2011, at Celebration - The ASID Design Awards, being held at ASID@NeoCon.

The 2011 Class of Fellows includes:

Fran Colby, FASID
Since joining ASID in 1979, Colby has served in many leadership positions in the ASID Pennsylvania West Chapter, including president, on several committees at the national level and with the Interior Design Legislative Coalition of Pennsylvania. Along with awards for her diverse portfolio of corporate, hospitality, retail and healthcare environments, Colby is the recipient of two ASID presidential citations, an ASID Chapter Medalist award, numerous chapter presidential citations and recognition for service to her community.

Jamie Drake, FASID
Renowned for his masterful use of color, Drake frequently ranks among America’s best interior designers. His impressive roster of clients boasts Madonna and Michael Bloomberg, who, when elected mayor of New York, engaged Drake to renovate and restore Gracie Mansion, as well as redesign various rooms at City Hall. A member of the Interior Design Hall of Fame and recipient of numerous awards for design excellence, Drake has also designed fabrics and other luxury products for top manufacturers.

Sonya Dufner, FASID
A talented designer recognized for her corporate and healthcare interiors, Dufner has excelled as a workplace and business strategist, helping her clients rethink their workplace processes and plan for the future. Currently a member of the ASID Board of Directors, Dufner also has served on national councils and committees, as well as leadership positions in the ASID Michigan Chapter.

Janice Linster, FASID
A founding partner of Studio Hive in Minneapolis, Linster is a dynamic presence in the ASID Minnesota Chapter and the Minneapolis interior design community. She received the University of Minnesota Alumni Service Award for her ongoing work with students in the College of Design and on the college’s advisory board. Formerly a member of the ASID Board of Directors, she has twice chaired national committees and held numerous leadership positions in her chapter. In addition, she has volunteered as a NCIDQ council delegate and with the InformeDesign Technical Review Board.

Joyce Shore, FASID
After holding numerous positions within the ASID Florida South Chapter, Shore served on the ASID Board of Directors. She then became involved in interior design legislation and was twice appointed to the Florida licensing board. Shore was chairperson of the Board when the Institute for Justice filed suit with the state, claiming the interior design law was unconstitutional. Her testimony and commitment are credited as instrumental in the U.S. Appeals Court’s decision to uphold the statute. She also represents Florida on the NCIDQ Delegates Council.  Shore has received numerous citations for her efforts and was inducted into the chapter’s Hall of Fame in 2010.
