The TravelMaster110 includes a standby feature that adjusts the speed of an escalator between 10-100 fpm, depending on load. Energy created from the downward running of the escalator is captured and fed back into the building's electrical system, saving up to 7,100 kWh a year, or 93,000 kWh of the escalator's total energy use over its lifecycle. The reduced escalator running speed not only enhances passenger safety but also provides an energy savings of up to 40%, depending on passenger traffic, load, motor, and drive.
