PHOENIX -- Shepley Bulfinch is pleased to announce that Katherine (Katie) Westrick, EDAC, LEED AP, has joined the firm’s Phoenix office as a member of the healthcare design practice.
Her extensive portfolio includes a number of projects for Banner Healthcare, as well as multiple others. At the Phoenix Studio of Shepley Bulfinch, she is now working on several projects for University Medical Center in Tucson, and is looking forward to opportunities to advance her interest in evidence-based design.
“(Design) Research is a powerful tool when you’re developing a design for healthcare” says Westrick. “Each project gives us the opportunity to apply past research and to use metrics to contribute to advances in future design.”
Katherine takes her interest in architecture design beyond the office, by having served on the Phoenix Host Committee for USGBC Greenbuild 2009 and as a member of “Women in Design in Arizona.” She captained a local team for CANstruction, an annual design-build competition that uses canned goods with the benefits going to area food pantries.
Westrick is a student recruiter for her alma mater, working with high school counselors and presenting at college fairs to encourage young minds to follow in the steps of great architects. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree from the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan. She is a LEED 2.1 AP (Accredited Professional) and an Evidence-based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC) Professional.
