Nearly 1 in 4 respondents to the newest IFMA Facilities Snapshot survey say they'll hire additional FM staff in the next 6 months. Healthcare and heavy industry, such as defense and aerospace, were most likely to anticipate hiring.
More than half of respondents expect their portfolios to stay the same size, but 36% – mainly in professional services, such as accounting, engineering, and banking – predicted their portfolios would expand over the next 6 months.
Respondents also say they spend more time and resources on sustainability projects, office moves and additions, retrofits, renovations, safety and security products, amenities, and construction than in previous studies, indicating an improving economy.
The periodic survey measures changes in the facilities management industry over time, examining trends in space management, staffing, facility planning, sustainability, and current events.
