NEW YORK – Continuing to advance its commitment to education and college students in the New York metropolitan area, WAC Lighting has sponsored the LaGuardia Community College Foundation’s 2011 Innovative Leadership Award Event.
The LaGuardia College faculty, staff and students joined friends and supporters at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in June to honor Edward I. Koch, the 105th Mayor of New York City and John Vogt, Regional Director of Restaurant Operations for White Castle, as recipients of the LaGuardia Community College Foundation’s 2011 Innovative Leadership Award for their significant contributions to higher education.
Proceeds from the fourth annual award reception raised $130,000 for scholarships that will help LaGuardia students achieve their dreams during the 2011-2012 academic year.
WAC Lighting Company, along with Goldman Sachs, provide title sponsorship for the event and enjoy fruitful partnerships with the college’s 10,000 Small Businesses Program through its Entrepreneurship Mentoring Initiative with the institution. WAC Lighting Vice President and Co-Founder Tai Wang is an honorary director of the foundation’s board and was the 2010 winner of the award herself.
