HOUSTON — WHR Architects announces the appointment of Peter de la Mora to the position of director of client development. De la Mora's previous experience in business development at WHR, first for the education science and technology studio and then for the healthcare studios, gives him a thorough understanding of the full range of capabilities of the firm, as well as insight into the market. He will continue to work closely with the practice leaders across the firm's offices in Houston, Dallas and Washington, D.C.

"Peter's understanding of our markets and evolving client requirements is a strong complement to our design teams in healthcare, education, science and the performing arts," says David Watkins FAIA, WHR Chairman. "He has the energy and enthusiasm, as well as the experience to lead our efforts in serving new clients and new markets."

With more than 10 years in the industry, de la Mora is a respected marketer of professional services with a track record of success, especially with institutional clients. He sees opportunity, even in a challenging environment for healthcare organizations. "WHR offers an exceptional combination of benefits to client institutions," notes de la Mora. "We walk the talk on research, participatory process and applied innovation. The firm is equally committed to improving the experience of the people who use our buildings: doctors, nurses, patients, students, researchers, performers — everyone."

A graduate of Texas A&M University, where he completed his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, de la Mora is a member of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), where he served as the Houston Chapter's program committee chair and as membership director. He teaches marketing topics for organizations including SMPS and the University of Houston-Clear Lake.

Approaching the market, de la Mora has WHR’s substantial portfolio of projects for prestigious clients in healthcare, education, research, allied health and the performing arts to share. Among WHR’s recent and current work are The Methodist Hospital Research Institute and their Outpatient Center, MD Anderson Cancer Center's Mid-Campus Building One, and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Research Park Complex, Behavioral and Biomedical Sciences Building and Dental School— all in the Texas Medical Center in Houston. Other projects include Texas A&M University at Galveston, Marine Sciences Building in Galveston; Sam Houston State University, Performing Arts Center in Huntsville; University of North Texas, Music Building Concert Hall in Denton; and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler.
