My name is L16, and I am a super sleek door collection designed by Piero Lissoni for Lualdi Porte.
Where are you from?
I am 100 percent made in Italy. I come from the country’s—and arguably the world’s—design capital, Milan.
Aside from sugar and spice and everything nice, what else are you made of?
A world of secrets—fortunately, I have a soundproof core to make sure none of them ever escape. I also have an outfit for every kind of party. From elegant, natural wood finishes like light oak, dark thermo wood and walnut canaletta to fancy matte and glossy lacquers, they all blend in perfectly with my concealed pivot hinges and magnetic lockset.
What one word best describes you?
Slender—I am only 16 millimeters thick!
What are your biggest turn-ons?
I love seeing the faces of people who open me and discover exciting worlds behind me.
Turn-offs?
It really bothers me when people slam me. Respect, please.
How do you define good design?
As a door, I see a lot of interiors, as well as people’s reactions to them. Let me tell you: It’s the balanced combination of functionality and beauty that wins, every time.
