Where are you from?
You could say I have roots in the earliest days of medicine, when the Romans discovered the healing powers of silver, but I was developed and manufactured here in the USA.
Aside from sugar and spice and everything nice, what else are you made of?
Not much really—my fibers are composed of 99.9 percent pure metallic silver with a nylon core. The silver layer creates an ionic shield that permanently inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungi.
What one word best describes you?
Revolutionary.
What are your biggest turn-ons?
I thrive on making healthcare environments safer and looking good while doing it.

How do you define good design?
Good design doesn’t have a shelf life. It’s a combination of innovation, functionality, usefulness and aesthetics.
What inspires you?
The nearly 2 million patients in the U.S. who acquire an infection while in a healthcare setting, resulting in a cost of nearly $45 billion per year—and knowing that I can help reduce those numbers.
How do you lessen your environmental impact?
Up to 50 percent of the silver used to make me is recycled, and I have no need for harsh chemicals in my manufacturing process. I am also a registered antimicrobial agent with the EPA.
Describe the secret to your success.
I’m here to stay; I am not a surface treatment and will not wash out. I am woven into privacy curtains and textiles, and will remain effective even after 200 commercial launderings—
test results show that washing me in a machine will release fewer silver ions than a single sterling silver spoon in a dishwasher. I provide continuous, comprehensive and permanent silver antimicrobial fabric protection, and that’s a promise.
