PORT WASHINGTON, NY-- Reinforcing its highly regarded Responsible Lighting brand standard, WAC Lighting is creating new jobs for Americans and expanding its domestic capabilities with a wide range of lighting fixtures and components that qualify for the Buy American ARRA Provision Program.
“Our participation in the Buy American program helps maintain lower costs and shorten lead times on projects to meet challenging construction schedules and extend the value of public dollars,” says Shelley Wald, president of WAC Lighting. “Under this provision, WAC will create locally or provide products that are either unavailable or cost-prohibitive while strengthening the local workforce and fulfilling the underpinning intentions of the ARRA.”
WAC Lighting offers a wide assortment of Made-to-Order products that include LED, CFL and HID luminaires and may be assembled or created in its new Port Washington, NY and Ontario, Calif. campuses. In addition, WAC Lighting products, including LED luminaires such as LEDme® Light Bars and InvisiLED® Tape, may qualify as Buy American products due to insufficient quantities of LEDs, specialty ballasts and electronic components in the United States. The Buy American Provision in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (section 1605 of Title XVI) provides requirements for funds to be appropriated for use in projects for the construction, alteration, maintenance, or repair of a public building or public work.
Doubling the size of its campuses, WAC recently moved to their 145,000-square-foot facility in Port Washington, NY and the new 100,000-plus square-foot building in Ontario, Calif. “The additional space in our new headquarters and west coast campuses will accommodate the expanded manufacturing and assembly capabilities to participate in the ARRA Program,” continues Wald. “WAC is proud to be an American company and the Buy American provision aligns perfectly with our company core values and culture.”
