SALT LAKE CITY — ARCOM is pleased to announce a new strategic alliance and endorsement agreement with the Master Painters Institute (MPI), publisher of painting standards and best practices, tester of paint products, and maintainer of tested and approved paint products in North America.
As part of this alliance, the companies will develop an innovative new web-based specification tool that combines MPI's Architectural Decision Tree system with ARCOM's new SpecBuilder+Expert platform, for use by MasterSpec licensed users. This tool will use MPI's online question and answer system to select appropriate paint systems and products and will feed that information into ARCOM's SpecBuilder+Expert application to create MasterSpec-based painting specifications.
Paint manufacturers will also be able to create a proprietary version of the SpecBuilder+Expert tool through ARCOM's Product MasterSpec program. Manufacturers will be able to customize the specifications, add information about their products, and provide knowledge articles and other information to aid in decision-making for design professionals, who can access the specifications free of charge.
Additionally, MPI will exclusively endorse ARCOM products—including MasterSpec, SpecText, and SpecWare—as effective systems and solutions for producing, editing, and processing building and construction specifications. ARCOM will endorse MPI Standards as an effective system for finding and selecting paint substrates, paint systems, and paint products.
"The ARCOM team is very excited to begin a partnership with the Master Painters Institute, who is the expert in painting systems, products, and applications," says Christopher Bushnell, AIA, FCSI, CCS, president and CEO of ARCOM. "Combining MPI's expertise with ARCOM's new SpecBuilder+Expert tool will provide users with the industry's first interactive, intelligent painting specification system."
MPI President Barry Law says, “MPI has had an excellent relationship with ARCOM for well over 10 years. We both have worked toward bettering architectural painting specifications across North America. The next generation is now upon us with ARCOM’s incredibly innovative SpecBuilder+Expert Platform. It has been a long time since we have been as excited about this type of innovation in architectural specifications, and full marks go to the ARCOM team.”
