NEW YORK--New York School of Interior Design has announced the appointment of Libby Cameron as a new member to its Board of Trustees. “We are excited to welcome Libby Cameron, as an esteemed interior designer, to NYSID’s Board of Directors,” says Board Chairman Patricia Sovern. “Libby has made significant contributions to the industry and we look forward to working with her to move the institution forward in the coming years.”

Cameron began her career at Parish-Hadley Associates in 1983, and became a partner in 1988. She went on to establish Libby Cameron, LLC in 1995 in New York City. As protégé of the decorator Sister Parish, Cameron is known for her love of color and eclectic style. She creates luxurious yet comfortable rooms for high-end residential projects across the country. These include residences in almost every state in the U.S., as well as in the Bahamas and London. She has worked for several private clubs in the New York area, including the Knickerbocker Club, the Larchmont Yacht Club, the Piping Rock Club and the Rolling Rock Club in Ligonier, Penn. As a special honor, Cameron was chosen to design the main Stair Hall at Edith Wharton’s house, The Mount, in Lenox, Mass. when the estate was restored in 2002.

In addition to her own firm, in 2000, Cameron co-founded Sister Parish Design with Susan Crater, Parish’s granddaughter, offering unique and colorful fabrics inspired by those Sister Parish used in her projects and in her own home. Together with Susan Crater, she co-authored a book, Sister Parish Design on Decorating, published in 2009 by St. Martin’s Press. A participant in more than 20 charitable events, Cameron focuses on organizations benefiting children, including the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club.
