DOE Strengthens Grid Security

The testing, manufacturing, delivery, and installation of new technologies will emphasize new requirements

To support a strong and secure power grid, the Energy Department recently released new guidance to help U.S. industries strengthen energy delivery system cybersecurity.

Developed through a public-private working group, Cybersecurity Procurement Language for Energy Delivery Systems provides strategies and suggested language to help the U.S. energy sector and technology suppliers build in cybersecurity protections during product manufacturing.

The testing, manufacturing, delivery, and installation of new technologies will emphasize these requirements. The DOE also launched an information sharing tool that provides electricity sector organizations with near-real-time threat information.
