Under this agreement Newton will modify its patent pending T-DAR® 3-D stereo camera tailgate and piggybacking technology to integrate with DSI’s Optical Turnstile product line.
“The new DSI Optical Turnstile system using overhead 3-D camera sensing will be designed to take powerful T-DAR tailgate detection and recording technology and combine it with proven DSI Optical Turnstiles to create the most foolproof system in the industry,” said DSI Vice President and Operations Manager Mark Crandall. “We are very pleased to have Newton Security, the world leader in machine vision tailgate detection, as our partner and I anticipate that our product fitted with T-DAR technology will revolutionize the Optical Turnstile market.”
This new DSI Optical Turnstile, designed to be used in public and private lobby entry control applications, will improve tailgating and piggybacking detection while allowing for traditionally troublesome items like carts and luggage to pass through undetected. In addition, for the first time it will be possible to allow handicap access though Optical Turnstiles with full tailgate/piggybacking prevention. The agreement with Newton allows DSI to be the exclusive manufacturer and supplier of Optical Turnstiles with T-DAR technology in North America.
