Managing energy is a continuing process. This commitment
requires getting everyone in the entire organization involved in identifying
opportunities, empowering them to make changes, and, if necessary, finding and
devoting funds to energy reduction projects.
Everyone in the organization is responsible for using energy. From the office
workers who leave their lights and equipment on, to security people who see
the building operating 24/7, to the HVAC technician who changes filters, all
have good ideas and can impact savings. One of the best ways of getting everyone
involved is to form an Energy Task Force with key players from each department
and then meet periodically to review utility bills and costs, generate new ideas,
review results, and plan the next steps.
