Design Degrees Now Available in Evening & Weekend Format

Los Angeles /PRNewswire/ - The Art Institutes' schools in California recently launched their comprehensive, career-focused graphic design and interior design bachelor's degree programs in an evening & weekend format. The programs are designed to provide working adults the opportunity to complete their education in three to four years through a combination of evening, weekend, on-ground and online courses. Financial aid is available to those who qualify.

"We meet many potential students who are trying to find a way to balance working and going to school," says Bill Tsatsoulis, group vice president of The Art Institutes schools in California. "The evening & weekend format provides excellent education choices for working adults; allowing them to pursue their passion of a career in a design field in a convenient time frame and schedule that fits their busy lives."

Each quarter, students in the evening & weekend format will take either two or three classes at one of The Art Institute schools located in Los Angeles (two schools), Orange County, San Bernardino, San Diego or San Francisco; along with two online classes.

At the time of enrollment, students will be advised of the classes that will be offered online in their program. These courses will have been pre-selected by the student's academic director. The same is true of the classes that the student will take at the school. Students will also have the option of taking any online courses on on-ground at the school, if offered, but it may require them to attend a daytime class.

Graphic Design Program
In the graphic design program, students will study design, typography, color theory, production and art direction. Industry-specific software is utilized to help students learn to create everything from logos and posters to packaging, Web sites, and corporate identity packages. Graduates are prepared to seek entry-level employment such as advertising designer, computer artist, freelance artist, graphic designer, or layout artist.

Interior Design Program
The interior design program focuses on the design, safety, and usability issues of creating the spaces for living, working and playing. Coursework focuses on space planning, traffic patterns, and the colors, surfaces and furnishings that make surroundings comfortable and livable. Graduates are prepared to seek entry-level employment such as draftsperson, facilities planner, interior designer/decorator, or space planner.

The Art Institutes schools provide career-focused, applied arts education. Academic programs are carefully defined with the support and contributions of members of the professional community through Program Advisory Committees. Curricula are further reviewed by faculty and industry professionals periodically to ensure they meet the needs of a changing marketplace to prepare graduates for entry-level positions in their chosen fields. Faculty members, many of whom are working professionals in their fields, bring a real-world perspective, work setting and industry standards into the classroom.

The Art Institutes schools located in California include: The Art Institute of California-Los Angeles, The Art Institute of California-Orange County, The Art Institute of California-San Diego, The Art Institute of California-San Francisco, The Art Institute of California-Inland Empire and California Design College in Los Angeles.
