Enhance Restroom Flexibility with Bobrick

The editorial staff rates Bobrick's B-3944 towel dispenser/waste receptacle

Installation We thought installation and conversion were fairly straightforward; however, we highly recommend using the proper tools. The editorial staff was armed with a socket wrench, but it would've taken much less time with an open-end wrench. We thought the instructions needed a bit more emphasis in certain places (bolts should be loosened, but not removed all the way, which we discovered too late). Large-print instructions on the inside of the dispensing units would've made things a little easier; we also recommend that the instructions for towel replacement be listed in English and Spanish.

Flexibility The flexibility of this product is what really makes it shine. A sudden increase in restroom traffic is no problem: Replace the folded-towel compartment for the roll-towel dispenser, swap out the small trashcan for the large one, and you're set. The only thing that would make its flexibility even better is to have the dispensing units make use of a "clipping" mechanism vs. having to undo screws/bolts to make the switch.

Aesthetics In restrooms, stainless steel always gets high marks for its resilience, but fingerprints show up quickly. It's not exceptionally beautiful, but it serves its purpose well, and certainly won't detract from your restroom aesthetic.

Sustainability This product is manufactured from 50- to 70-percent post-industrial recycled stainless steel, which is a plus. But, it's also green in another way, too: Two rolls of towels (a stub roll and a full roll) can be in the roll-towel dispenser at the same time. This will keep custodial staff from throwing the stub roll away with paper towels still on it.

To make restroom planning easier, Los Angeles-based Bobrick offers its B-3944 ClassicSeries® Recessed Paper Towel Dispenser/Waste Receptacle. What's unique about this product is its ability to accommodate folded towels or roll towels with just a quick conversion. The waste receptacles are also interchangeable, with 12- and 18-gallon models that can be swapped in a few seconds, depending on restroom traffic. If occupancy on a certain floor changes, you don't need a whole new towel-dispenser/waste-receptacle system - you simply change out a few pieces to accommodate the new demographic. The product is constructed of type 304 stainless steel, manufactured from 50- to 70-percent post-industrial recycled stainless steel; the exposed surfaces have a satin finish. And, because it dispenses universal towels, long-term purchasing agreements associated with proprietary towel-dispensing systems aren't necessary. For more information, visit www.bobrick.com.
