Managing Editor Leah B. Garris talks about this year’s Top 100 Products

Leah B. Garris,
Managing Editor

Once again, the editorial staff of Buildings has selected 100 products/services to present to you as this year’s best. Starting in 2002, once a year, we cull through press releases and websites, talk to vendors and end-users, visit with manufacturers at tradeshows, and try products first-hand to sort through what works and what doesn’t – what’s new and different, and what’s noteworthy. Then, we share the best of what we find with you.

Each of the 100 products/services we chose to include in this issue features a photo, a comment from us about why it was chosen, and a short explanation of what the product is and how it works – they’re our recommendations to you.

We also want to hear about what’s been working for you lately – whether it’s a new product, a process you’ve put into place, a new tenant-retention plan, or an updated employee-satisfaction practice. You’ve got plenty of challenges and obstacles to face this year … so how are you dealing with them? Let me know at leah.garris@buildings.com.

And, if you’re really confident about what you’ve been able to accomplish this year, send us some information to consider as part of Buildings magazine’s Solutions Exchange (formerly our annual Who’s Who), which will be featured in the September 2009 issue. We’ll profile organizations and facilities management departments that are doing some amazing things in terms of energy management, sustainability, project management, and employee training/retention. If you want to be included, send me an e-mail and let me know why. We want to serve as a forum for you to share your ideas and best practices with each other.
