Design for Maintenance: Using BIM as a FM Tool
On Demand

Once used primarily as a design tool, Building Information Modeling (BIM) is becoming an outstanding tool for facilities managers.

Description

Return to BUILDINGSVIP home pageOver the next two years, maintenance-related data in BIM models will soar, giving FMs precise information to help them manage their buildings more efficiently in terms of energy consumption, waste reduction, and equipment service life.

Learning Objectives
  • Learn how facility maintenance issues can be anticipated in the design phase.
  • Learn how operations and maintenance information can be embedded in BIM models.
  • Recognize ways in which information in BIM models can be used to improve energy consumption, reduce waste, and increase equipment service life.
