Hydrogen Student Design Contest

The Hydrogen Student Design Contest challenges students to come up with new ideas for sustainability and efficiency.

The University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, has won the Hydrogen Education Foundation’s 2011 Hydrogen Student Design Contest for the fifth time in the six-year history of the contest.

The contest is designed to encourage innovation in the hydrogen and fuel cell industry and is supported by the U.S. Department of Energy.

The 2010-2011 contest hinged on creating design concepts for residential hydrogen fueling systems, with the theme of “Residential Fueling with Hydrogen”.  The challenge focused on small-scale hydrogen production.

More than 50 teams from 17 countries participated, with Imperial College London and University of California taking away honorable mentions.  The winning team from the University of Waterloo presented their design and concepts during a keynote session at the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy 2011 conference.

The Hydrogen Student Design Contest is open to all current undergraduate and graduate students, visit www.hydrogencontest.org/participate to find out more.
