Polyiso Study Reveals Energy and Construction Savings

Study released by PIMA shows the benefits of polyisocyanurate roof insulation

A recent study released by the Alexandria, VA-based Polyisocyanurate Insulation Manufacturers Association (PIMA) shows how increased thicknesses of polyiso roof insulation significantly reduce energy costs while providing a positive rate of return on the cost of installation. Completed by independent energy analysis firms Energy Services Provider Group and EBL Engineers, the study assessed a retail building and an elementary school to gauge the effects of using additional thicknesses of polyiso insulation on a roof system over the minimum code requirement. Energy costs for structures in six U.S. cities (Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, and Los Angeles) were calculated.

To read the study in its entirety, visit the PIMA website (www.pima.org/cs/PIMA_EnergyBulletin.pdf). PIMA is the national trade organization that advances the use of polyiso insulation, one of the nation’s most widely used and cost-effective insulation products. PIMA’s membership consists of manufacturers and marketers of polyiso insulation, as well as suppliers to the industry.
