The American Society of Civil Engineers’ council issues a request for proposal

The American Society of Civil Engineers’ Building Security Council (BSC), in its mission to enhance public safety by promoting building security, has issued a request for proposal to develop a rating system. The BSC has hopes that by developing criteria for security enhancing construction and operations and providing a matching rating system to describe the relative security and safety of building and building systems, owners can easily pinpoint areas where improvement is necessary.

According to a recent release issued by The Infrastructure Security Partnership (www.tisp.org), “The mission of the BSC will be advanced through the evaluation and rating of building security systems and the certification of individuals qualified to practice in the area of building security.”

Parties interested in submitting a proposal, must express their intent no later than Friday, July 15, 2005 (5:00 p.m. EDT). Currently, the BSC is anticipating the release of a resulting contract on Friday, July 29, 2005. View the request for proposal at (http://www.asce.org/files/pdf/bscfinal.pdf).
