WR Meadows has teamed up with AEC Daily to offer AIA/CSI approved training at AEC Daily's Online Education Center. The free KNIGHT SCHOOL courses are focused on controlling moisture movement in buildings, a topic that is important to facilities managers.
Fourteen organizations, including the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), recognize the courses and offer continuing education points for their completion. Each an hour long, the courses are worth 1 credit/hour/learning unit. The courses are applicable for facilities managers and owners who are interested in new building design, additions, or just learning more about protecting their buildings from moisture damage.
The first program, "Controlling Moisture Movement in Buildings: The Complete Approach - Below Slab Protection," provides an overview of the types of moisture movement in buildings below grade and the effects of uncontrolled moisture movement. Included are discussions pertaining to the solutions and methods used to prevent and control moisture movement below grade and the industry codes and standards which must be met when specifying vapor barriers.
"The Complete Air & Vapor Barrier Approach" provides an overview of the benefits and advantages of air, vapor, and moisture barriers designed to protect buildings against excessive moisture, and includes a discussion on moisture sources and travel, and their negative impact upon the building envelope.
