UTSA to Offer New Minor in Facility Management

08/27/2009 |

The IFMA Foundation announced that the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) will be offering a new minor in Facility Management beginning in 2010 as part of their Real Estate Finance and Development program in the UTSA College of Business.

“We’re very pleased that UTSA will be initiating the Facility Management Minor program in the fall of 2010,” says Charles Claar, director of academic affairs for the IFMA Foundation. “The private and public sectors in Texas alone need 775 new, competent facility managers each year, so this program will begin to fill a huge void that exists in Texas and nationwide. We look forward to the development of a Facility Management Major program at UTSA as soon as it can be accomplished.”

The announcement of the new program will be held at the September meeting of the San Antonio chapter of the IFMA Foundation on Wednesday, Sept. 2 at the UTSA campus. Those interested in attending the announcement should contact Cyndi Felts of the San Antonio Chapter of IFMA at 210-270-2202 or felts@marmonmok.com. John Frederick, provost of UTSA; Lynda de la Vina, dean of UTSA’s College of Business, David J. Brady, president and CEO from the IFMA Foundation; and Thomas L. Mitchell, Jr., chairman of the board of directors of the IFMA Foundation will all be in attendance at the announcement.
