ASHRAE, the developer of the Building Energy Quotient (bEQ) program, has released details on how the bEQ will work to help building owners and facility managers save energy and make the right choices. The Building Energy Quotient (bEQ) program assigns to buildings an energy usage quotient based on completion of an in-operation assessment that includes an ASHRAE Level I Energy Audit.  A bEQ assessment is designed to provide a wealth of actionable information to improve building performance.

The American Institute of Architects has announced that the Architecture Billings Index has entered into the positive zone for the third month in a row.  The ABI reflects the approximate nine to twelve month lag time between architecture billings and construction spending and can be used as an indicator of construction activity.

The field of 14 startups participating in the America’s Next Top Energy Innovator challenge has been narrowed down to the three winners.  Americans chose the top innovators by casting nearly half a million votes online from January to February, with an expert panel conducting a separate review on the potential economic and societal contributions from the startup companies.

The EPA has recognized two DoD facilities with the Energy Star Combined Heat and Power (CHP) award for utilizing CHP technology to generate clean, efficient, and reliable thermal energy.  The U.S. Army Garrison Fort Bragg, NC, and the U.S. Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, CA, were both presented with the award.
