 The USGBC has released the 2010 list of top 10 states for LEED-certified commercial and institutional green buildings.  The District of Columbia comes out on top nationally, with 25 square feet of LEED-certified space per person.

Former EPA fugitive Joseph DeMatteo of Clark County, NV, has been sentenced to serve 5 months home detention, with a three year probation term following the detention. DeMatteo was one of 10 Nevada-certified emissions testers indicted for falsifying vehicle emissions test reports in Las Vegas.

The University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, has won the Hydrogen Education Foundation’s 2011 Hydrogen Student Design Contest for the fifth time in the six-year history of the contest.  The contest is designed to encourage innovation in the hydrogen and fuel cell industry and is supported by the U.S. Department of Energy.

The DOE has announced the winners of the third annual Next Generation Luminaires (NGL) awards.   The NGL competition launched in 2008 to promote energy-efficient LED luminaires for commercial lighting and is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, and the International Association of Lighting Designers.

The EPA is issuing final Clean Air Act Standards for boilers and incinerators, framed around  public health protection.  This revised implementation is expected to cost approximately 50% less than a similar proposal last year.
