Best Lighting For Hospitals and Healthcare Facilities

Sept. 28, 2017

Lighting for healthcare buildings has unique and difficult challenges .

Every facility type has different needs when it comes to lighting, and for hospitals and other healthcare facilities it’s no different.

That is why the Lighting Research Center (LRC) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has expanded its Lighting Patterns for Healthy Buildings website to include designs for the healthcare environment.

Lighting for healthcare has unique and difficult challenges for accommodating the diverse and often sensitive individuals who occupy this environment.

The LRC’s website provides lighting patterns, using circadian stimulus as the primary design component, for three distinct healthcare environments and the needs of their respective end users. It gives exact dimensions that fit occupants most efficiently and offers specific floor plans as a visual aid to begin your own retrofit.
