James E. Woods, Ph.D., P.E.
Indoor Environment Consultant


James is an indoor environmental consultant and the former executive director of the Building Diagnostics Research Institute. He has served as the William E. Jamerson Professor of Building Construction at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, as well as senior engineering manager and senior staff scientist at Honeywell. He taught mechanical engineering and architecture at Iowa State University for 9 years. Dr. Woods has over 49 years of experience in energy and environmental analysis and has been responsible for more than 30 research projects and 250 investigations related to IEQ. He is the co-holder of two patents and has also authored or co-authored seven books and over 200 technical papers.


Wane A. Baker, P.E., CIH
Division Manager, Senior Consultant, Michaels Engineering


Wane is a division manager and senior consultant with Michaels Engineering, Inc., a diversified engineering and environmental consulting firm with offices in St. Paul, MN, and La Crosse and Madison, WI. He is a licensed professional engineer and a certified industrial hygienist with more than 30 years of experience in environmental consulting, forensic engineering, building operation and maintenance, and energy conservation. Wane is currently serving his second three-year term as a voting member of ASHRAE’s Environmental Health Committee. He is also vice-chair of the American Industrial Hygiene Association’s IAQ Committee and director of the Milwaukee chapter of the Indoor Air Quality Association.
