A new certification program to assess facility resilience to earthquakes has been released. Developed by the U.S. Resiliency Council, the tool will measure building performance based on a variety of factors including safety, damage (repair cost) and recovery (the time it takes for a facility regain basic function). The rating will award one to five stars based on each of the three performance factors and gives building owners the control to specify a desired performance level for seismic activity.
The voluntary program includes two separate types of ratings: a USRC Verified Rating for building owners to use for promotional, marketing, and publicity, as well as USRC Transaction Ratings for transactional due diligence. Learn more about the program and how to sign your building up at the USRC’s website.
