HVAC controls are projected to grow as building professionals continue to take steps to cut energy consumption in facilities, says a new report. The study from Technavio shows that increasing economic activity in North America as well as a growing market for retrofits and replacements will also affect installations, with analysts expecting that up to 50% of growth will come from replacements through 2020.

The Global Advanced HVAC Control Market 2016-2020 report highlights the growing importance of sensors to measure humidity, CO2, VOCs and occupancy, noting that sensor implementation is expected to grow due to an increased focus on temperature sensing and control. The use of floor- and building-level controllers is also expected to grow, giving building professionals more control over HVAC performance. The global market for HVAC controls is expected to reach $12.2 billion by 2020.
