International Code Council (ICC) has issued guidelines for building safety in the wake of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria

In the wake of the devastation from Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria, the International Code Council (ICC) has issued guidelines for inspecting and maintaining plumbing and electrical systems in the wake of a hurricane.

Topics in the ICC guidelines include system inspections, safety tips and repair best practices for vital components.

The International Code Council (ICC) notes that for any work being undertaken be sure to consult the locally adopted codes. ICC further recommends that work being performed should be done by a licensed plumber or electrician and that it is imperative that the local building department be contacted to make sure the necessary permits, approvals and inspections are secured.
