New Property Management Certification

01/30/2019 | By Sarah Kloepple

The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International and the Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI) International announced that they are partnering to create a new “early-career” certification for commercial property managers. They will also produce online education materials for the commercial real estate industry.

The new property management certification, launching this summer, will entail a certification exam that addresses “key knowledge, skills and abilities based on a competency model for property managers recently completed by BOMA and BOMI,” according to a press release. The partnership’s board of managers will oversee and certification program and is still finalizing exam eligibility and other requirements.

“This is a top priority for both organizations,” said BOMA International chair and CEO Brian Cappelli in a press release.

The second initiative of the partnership involves creating online education materials that will support the certification program and other industry training needs. It will offer “timely, high-quality” education to professionals in the commercial real estate industry.

The first educational program, also launching this summer, will prepare candidates for the new certification. Expect four additional educational products over the next four to five years.
