With the release of the second draft of the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System® for New Construction (LEED-NC), the organization is now asking for public comments. The second public comment period will be open until July 30, 2005, at 5 p.m. pacific standard time.
Comments from the first public comment period can be read online by visiting the LEED Draft Comments page or in the myUSGBC area. The USGBC reports having responded to all comments.
Projects currently registered to receive certification in the LEED-NC version 2.0 or 2.1 will not be affected by the release of the LEED-NC v2.2. According to the organization, “These changes would only apply to projects that registered after this new version is balloted by the USGBC membership and released for public use.”
To comment on the draft, register a site user profile on the USGBC website (www.usgbc.org). The official public release of the rating system is expected in the fall of this year.
