Overview: The Webcast will cover the backlight, uplight and glare (BUG) rating system for outdoor lighting that is increasingly used to specify maximum backlight, uplight, and glare levels for applications ranging from lighting on private property to roadways. Learn how LED luminaires can be designed and specified with compliant beam distributions. The presentation will cover the background and details of BUG ratings as well as how BUG ratings are applied in different application scenarios.
For outdoor area lighting on public and private property, the presentation will cover the BUG implementation specified in the Model Lighting Ordinance (MLO) that was published jointly by the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and the International Dark-sky Association (IDA). For street and roadway applications, the presentation will cover the implementation of BUG ratings in the IES RP-8 standard for roadway lighting.
