Oculus Inc. Completes Last-minute Redesign of a Library Façade and Meets the Original Deadlines
Oculus had completed the design for a 6,000-square-foot public library in Carrollton. The review board had signed off on the design, and the construction documents were complete and ready to be sent out for bid. So far so good. Then suddenly there was a request for a complete overhaul of the façade. That was Wednesday, and the review board was meeting on Friday.

Tight schedules and last-minute design changes can make some firms nervous. Oculus, on the other hand, thrives on them. And with Autodesk® Revit® as their building design and documentation software, maintaining the agreed-upon schedule despite sweeping changes was easy. Autodesk Revit is Autodesk’s building information modeling platform. Building information modeling treats information about a building as data rather than graphics, and creates a database with this information. Everything in the database is interconnected through parametric relationships. This means you can make a change to one part of the database—schedules, sections, renderings, elevations, literally anything—and everything else automatically updates through the parametric change technology in Autodesk Revit.
The Result
So what happened to the project? Within a timeframe of only three days, Oculus was able to explore multiple design options and create compelling 3D renderings that helped the review board visualize and approve the project.
