Unobtrusive Protection: Sprinklers At the Palace Hotel

Nov. 15, 2001

The Palace Hotel is one of the most renowned and historic hotels in Spain. The hotel recently completed a program of total refurbishment, during which careful attention was paid to the retention of the original features and character of the building.

Viking Mirage Concealed sprinklers were used throughout to provide effective but unobtrusive protection. The Mirage blends perfectly with the interior decoration, thanks to the wide choice of cover plate finishes available. "This fast-acting, low-profile sprinkler is available in a variety of colors and finishes and installs virtually flush to the wall surface, offering state-of-the-art fire protection without sacrificing aesthetics," explains Del Dornbos, Sprinkler Unit vice president, Viking. Mirage Concealed Sprinklers are available in both a pendant version as well as a new Horizontal Sidewall, and provide safety while minimizing the potential for aesthetic intrusion and sprinkler head damage.

The sprinkler is available in 5.6 K-factor and 165-degree F. temperature rating, while cover plates are available with standard 165-degree F. or optional 135-degree F. temperatures. UL- and cUL-listed as quick response for light and ordinary hazard occupancies, the Mirage Concealed sprinkler was the ideal choice for protection for the Palace Hotel's public rooms and guest accommodations.
