NYSERDA programs target wind, fuel cells, and CHP

Looking for funding to support energy efficiency? Don’t overlook NYSERDA.

Current funding opportunities from NYSERDA (New York State Energy Research and Development Authority) include programs for small and large projects. The summary below of Program Opportunity Notices (PONs) focuses on commercial buildings. For more information, visit www.nyserda.ny.gov/Funding-Opportunities.

NYSERDA is a public benefit corporation focused on reducing energy consumption, promoting the use of renewable energy sources, and protecting the environment.

NYSERDA PROGRAM OPPORTUNITY NOTICES
Existing Facilities Program Offers a broad portfolio of incentives to offset the costs of energy efficiency improvements in existing buildings. Two paths are available: small equipment changeouts (lighting, HVAC, gas equipment, etc.) up to $60,000 and large custom improvements (electric, natural gas, energy storage, demand response, etc.) up to $2 million.
New Construction Program Financial Incentives Nearly $91 million is available to conduct technical assessments of energy efficiency improvements in building designs and to offset a portion of the incremental capital costs for energy-efficient equipment in new construction. Additional incentives and services are offered for buildings that achieve LEED or NY-CHPS certification.
FlexTech Program Seeks customers interested in receiving cost-shared analysis of energy efficiency technical evaluations, process improvement analysis, energy master plans, retrocommissioning, and development of peak-load curtailment plans (PLCPs) for their existing facilities as well as combined heat & power (CHP) feasibility studies for implementation.
Renewable Portfolio Standard Customer-Sited Tier Fuel Cell Program Financial incentives are available to support the installation and operation of continuous duty fuel cell systems in New York State, with up to $1 million available for fuel cell systems rated larger than 25 kW and $50,000 available for fuel cell systems rated at 25 kW or less.
GJGNY Small Business/ Not-for-Profit Energy Efficiency Financing Program Invites lenders to partner with NYSERDA to offer Green Jobs/Green New York (GJGNY) financing products for small businesses and not-for-profits who seek low-interest rate financing to implement energy efficiency improvements. Available to all New York state electric and natural gas utility customers who meet eligibility requirements.
On-Site Wind Turbine Incentive Program Approximately $13.8 million in incentives is available for installation of end-use wind energy systems for commercial, institutional, government and residential use. Up to $400,000 per site/customer will be paid to eligible installers for grid-connected wind energy systems. The maximum equipment size is 2 MW (2,000 kW) per site/customer.
Industrial and Process Efficiency Program Offers performance-based incentives to data centers and manufacturers that implement cost-effective electric and natural gas efficiency and process improvements. Includes Process and Energy Efficiency incentives, as well as Operations and Maintenance Incentives.
CHP Acceleration Program Provides incentives for installation of prequalified and conditionally qualified CHP systems by approved CHP system vendors in the size range 50kW–1.3MW. To be eligible for incentive payments, the installation site must pay the System Benefits Charge (SBC) surcharge on its electric bill.
