LEED 2012 Now Open for Third Public Comment

May 1, 2012

The USGBC’s next update to the LEED green building program, LEED 2012, will include updates to the LEED Pilot Credit Library, a flexible, interactive mechanism that uses real-time feedback to assess credit usability and intent.

The library introduces new prerequisites and credits through stakeholder engagement and collaboration on testing and analysis. The process evaluates and refines credits before they are introduced into LEED.

The current draft increases the technical rigor of the rating system, improves user experience, and provides measurement and performance tools. Changes to credits revolve around chemicals of concern, building energy performance, and product transparency and assessment.
