Designed Security Inc. has announced the ES8500 Mid-Size Optical Turnstile, which is designed for small to medium-sized lobbies and entryways. The turnstile can handle a high volume of pedestrian traffic – up to 30 people per minute per lane. The new product takes the proven ES850 design and combines it with optical sensing technology found in the company’s highly-touted Entry Sentry.

The ES8500 includes sensors to ensure that only one person for each authorized identification card can pass at a time, eliminating the “tailgating” security threat. The ES8500 complies with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines and can be styled to match any architectural setting while occupying a small amount of space.
