Founded in 1948, Trammell Crow Co. is one of the largest diversified commercial real estate services companies in the world. In addition to its full-service offices located throughout the United States (which provide building management, brokerage, project management, and development and investment services to both investors in and users of commercial property), the company has offices in Canada, Europe, Asia, and Latin/South America focused on the delivery of real estate services to clients. In late April of this year, Trammell Crow Co., along with its strategic alliance partner Savills plc (another major global commercial real estate services firm, with whom it established an initial alliance in June 2000), jointly announced that Trammell Crow Co. had exercised its option to acquire additional shares of Savills, thereby increasing its ownership stake - an endorsement of Savills’ success strategy and prospects to date and in the future, according to Crow executive management. This arrangement benefits both players and poises Trammell Crow Co. for inevitable growth.

This alliance is no surprise, as Trammell Crow has a history of strong strategic partnerships, outside and within its own organization. While the Savills relationship helps deliver brokerage services to Europe and Asia, JJ Barnicke (a leading Canadian real estate services provider) partners with Trammell Crow Co. for Canada. In India, the company delivers building management, brokerage, and project management services through Trammell Crow Meghraj.

What also makes Trammell Crow Co. unique for this year’s report is its ability to balance its offerings to both users and investors. A partner that can understand the big picture and manage the details, Trammell Crow Co. can assist users in a variety of core capabilities: outsourcing; strategic services; tenant representation; project management outsourcing; program management; interior build-out; project management of critical environments; moves, adds, and changes; facilities management; and development and investment.

For investors, the firm is organized around its investor customers’ needs, with a goal to increase asset value while allowing each client to be efficient and effective. Service offerings include such core capabilities as capital markets, project leasing, property management, and development and investment. Along this vein, the company also provides strategic services, specifically in the form of portfolio management.

In concert with these efforts is the company’s Health Safety Security and Environmental (HSSE) committee, a group of Trammell Crow resources around the country in specific areas of expertise who collaborate and combine best practices and launch national initiatives from that platform.

Earlier this year, Trammell Crow Co. was recognized as a top outsourcing service provider by the Intl. Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP) in The Global Outsourcing 100. The company’s steady expansion of its corporate real estate outsourcing business over the past 2 decades has been cited as instrumental in such recognition. With a firm growth strategy in place, Trammell Crow could impress us even more over the next 2 years.
