The FedEx World Tech Center in Collierville, TN, received BOMA Intl.’s Earth Award at the association’s 2005 North American Commercial Real Estate Congress in Anaheim, CA, in late June. The competition, now in its sixth year, recognizes excellence in environmentally sound office building management, following its mission to “honor and recognize building management teams that preserve and enhance the internal and external environment through an all-around green program.”

According to BOMA Intl., which is headquartered in Washington, D.C., the building management team at the FedEx World Tech Center demonstrated how they implement government programs; manage hazardous waste and environmental risks; establish emergency response agendas; establish recycling, water, and energy conservation plans; ensure indoor air quality; and implement green purchasing practices.

The team also scored extremely high on tenant communications, employee health, and safety standards areas of the competition portfolio.
