www.fordlanddevelopment.comWith global operations encompassing approximately 243.5 million square feet of space – 8.5 million square feet of space in 310 office locations and 235 million square feet of space in 285 industrial locations worldwide – Ford Motor Land Development Corp. (Ford Land), Dearborn, MI, owns substantially all of its U.S. manufacturing and assembly facilities. These facilities are situated in various sections of the country and include assembly plants, engine plants, casting plants, metal stamping plants, and transmission plants. Approximately 90 percent of the total square footage of the company’s engineering centers and its supplementary research and development space are owned.[Editors’ Note: Established in 1970 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Co., FordLand’s original mandate was to develop a 2,360-acre tract of undeveloped land surrounding Ford’s world headquarters. This tract, which is called Fairlane, has become a thriving master-planned business, retail, and residential community. Since then, however, FordLand has grown significantly in size and scope as its parent company has consolidated real estate services. Today, FordLand is a full-service provider of real estate, construction, and facility services to many customers beyond Ford Motor Co. – although it is still the company’s strategic provider of real estate, construction, and facilities management services.]
