(757) 764-2001The Directorate of The Civil Engineer, Headquarters Air Combat Command at Langley Air Force Base, VA, oversees more than 98 million square feet of space within 19,890 facilities: 7.39 million square feet in 415 office buildings; 2.87 million square feet in 103 shopping centers; 703,020 square feet in 35 educational buildings; 1.45 million square feet in 59 healthcare buildings; 8.01 million square feet in 518 hotel/motel buildings (comprising 26,694 units); 34.63 million square feet in 12,332 multi-family housing buildings (comprising 23,188 units); 37.25 million square feet in 5,803 “other commercial” buildings; and 5.79 million square feet in 625 industrial buildings. Additionally, the organization is responsible for 1.09 million square yards in 20 airfield pavements; 43.66 million linear feet in 1,413 utility grid systems; and 24.51 million square feet in 386 support infrastructure (roads) installations. Dollar volume of capital spending in 2004 toward facilities includes $615 million in minor construction, restoration, and modernization; and $363 million in restoration and modernization.
