Redefining the Office

Jan. 7, 2002

“Our goal is to create a superior office environment that blends architecture, landscape, technology, and art – all designed for the people who work here,” says Craig Hall, chairman of Hall Financial Group, about Hall Office Park. “In addition, it is our hope that the park’s advanced business services will combine to allow our tenants a greater sense of personal freedom and provide them with the ability to focus on what is important.”

The 162-acre business community, located in Frisco, TX, calls for the eventual development of 4 million square feet of 21st century office space in 20 buildings that range in size from 2-story flex space to 20-story Class A towers. Currently, almost 1 million square feet of space has been completed or is under construction.

Hall Office Park is taking the concept of service to a whole new level, pampering its tenants with an extensive network of timesaving amenities, called “HOP To It.” Hall provides resources that help enhance productivity, relieve stress, and encourage and support both personal and professional growth. Features include concierge service, massage therapy sessions, laundry and dry cleaning pick-up and delivery, car washing and detailing, discounted movie and event tickets, and much, much more. A 1,500-square-foot customizable conference area and adjoining break-out rooms feature the latest technology, while the park’s “Chill-Out Room” offers tenants a quiet place to relax, enjoy gourmet coffee or tea, and catch up on the latest business news or plug in to high-speed Internet stations – all from the comfort of over-sized leather recliners. Extensive site landscaping includes lakes, fountains, walking trails, and outdoor seating areas.

Survey Says …

The second annual survey by New York City-headquartered Integra Realty Resources Inc., a “Desk Rage” study of American workers, reveals some shocking results. Increased levels of stress and anxiety have mounted as employees began to feel the effects of a slowing economy and a nation at war in late 2001. According to the survey:

- 37 percent of workers in America’s high-rise facilities admit they are more fearful for their personal safety in the workplace since the attacks on September 11th.
- 11 percent of respondents work in cubicles.
- 13 percent voiced concern about their workplace safety, or personal safety in the facility parking lot.
- 23 percent felt that it was time for their employer to redecorate.

Moynihan Wins ULI’s JC Nichols Prize

Former Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, a widely renown urban design expert, won the Washington, D.C.-based Urban Land Institute’s JC Nichols Prize for Visionary Urban Development. The award honors Moynihan’s lifelong dedication to excellence in urban design, public building architecture, and community revitalization issues.

Moynihan’s 40-plus years of public service include serving as counselor for urban affairs to President Nixon, cabinet-level and sub-cabinet-level positions in four presidential administrations, and revitalizing Washington, D.C.’s Pennsylvania Avenue. “What we did once, we can do again, and this time, we can do it even better,” says Moynihan, in response to the September attacks. The $100,000 annual prize is for individuals or institutes that have demonstrated a high commitment to responsible development.
